The Queen of Knives

Lelith Hesperax is the senior Succubus of the Wych Cult of Strife — the most prestigious gladiator-cult in Commorragh. She holds the title for the same reason every previous Succubus has held it: she has not yet been killed in single combat by anyone willing to challenge her.

Her record is, by Drukhari arena-keeping standards, the longest unbroken winning streak of any active Succubus. The exact count is disputed because some duels were against opponents whose deaths were not formally registered. The Cult treats the dispute as politically convenient and does not resolve it.

The Method

Lelith fights without armour. Her arena costume is a thin black bodysuit, ceremonial face-markings, and her trademark twin razor-claws plus a thin curved single-edged blade. She has fought as many as ten opponents simultaneously and emerged without a scratch.

Her technique is, by every observer's description, less martial-arts and more performance. She reads the audience's anticipations. She frames each kill as a closing act. She moves between opponents so quickly that recorded footage, played at full speed, is difficult to follow even by Aeldari reflex standards.

Outside the Arena

Lelith conducts realspace raids personally only when the harvest target is interesting — a famous gladiator-school on an Imperial world, a Phoenix Lord's shrine on an undefended Craftworld, a primarch's tomb on a Forge World. Routine raids she delegates to her Cult's subordinate Succubi.

She is, in Commorragh politics, an unstable ally of Asdrubael Vect. Both have profited from the other's actions and neither has openly betrayed the other yet. The unfailing politeness with which they greet each other in public is, by Drukhari court custom, the most threatening behaviour available.

Lelith has been active in Era Indomitus realspace raids. She has fought, by Imperial record, against Sister of Battle veterans, Sisters of Silence, at least one Phoenix Lord (Jain Zar), and several Astartes Champions in named engagements. She has, by Drukhari record, lost none of these engagements.

The Imperial War Office classifies her as a Tier-A duelist threat with melee-only engagement-prohibition warnings.
