IMPERIALIS

⚜ COMPENDIUM OF THE GRIM DARK FUTURE ⚜

Forty-one thousand years have passed since humanity first set foot upon the worlds beyond Sol. In the long shadow of that ascent, an empire of a million worlds endures — corroded by superstition, hollowed by war, and tended in His name by trillions who will never see Him. This codex is a reading-stone by which to wander that empire: its saints and sinners, its dead gods and waking ones, the books that chronicle it, and the words that have outlived their speakers. Knowledge here is curated, not exhaustive; for every page set down, a thousand are lost to the warp.

The Imperium of Man is the largest, most paranoid, and most tragic civilization yet recorded. Founded on the back of the Emperor's Great Crusade in the late 30th Millennium, it broke against the betrayal of its favourite son, Horus, and has been crumbling slowly inward for ten thousand years. What remains is a theocracy of trillions worshipping a corpse-god, defended by armies who understand neither their weapons nor the stars they march across.

Beyond its borders lie horrors older than humanity. The Aeldari sift through the ashes of their lost empire. The Necrons rise from sixty-million-year slumber. The Tyranids approach from outside the galaxy in numbers without count. The Orks grow strong on every world they touch. The T'au rise young and ambitious in the eastern fringe. And, in the wounds of reality called the Eye of Terror and the Cicatrix Maledictum, the four Chaos Gods dream of a galaxy made into their playground — served by traitors who once knelt before the Emperor.

This bibliotheca compiles eight movements through that grim dark future. Codex catalogues the great factions. Primarchae remembers the gene-sons. Annales traces the timeline from Old Night to the Indomitus Era. Tomi guides the reader through Black Library's chronicled novels. Personae names the heroes and villains who shaped events. Lexicon defines the terms of art. Vox preserves the words by which armies marched. All sources cited; all images credited; all summaries written in original prose. The Emperor protects, but only the diligent reader.
