The Wound & The Prophet

Ghazghkull was an ordinary Goff Nob until a stray slug took most of his skull off during a clan-on-clan brawl. Mad Dok Grotsnik, the most infamous Ork field-surgeon of the era, replaced the lost bone with adamantium plating. When Ghazghkull woke, the voice of Gork — or possibly Mork, the Orks dispute it — was speaking to him directly.

From that hour forward Ghazghkull preached the WAAAGH! Not as a brawl, not as a season, but as the literal will of the Ork gods made manifest. The Orks listened. They have not stopped listening.

I sees it now. We is da WAAAGH! Da WAAAGH! is everywhere. We is gonna eat it.

— Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka, attributed post-injury

Armageddon

The Second War for Armageddon in 941.M41 was Ghazghkull's first major WAAAGH! It was the largest Ork invasion of an Imperial industrial world in living memory. Sebastian Yarrick stopped him at Hades Hive. Ghazghkull, who learned from defeats in a way most Orks never have, withdrew to plan a sequel rather than die at the front.

The Third War for Armageddon in 998.M41 was the sequel — larger, better-coordinated, with Ork command structures that no Imperial xenologist had thought possible. Yarrick stopped him again. Ghazghkull withdrew, again, to plan the fourth.

The Beast Waits

Between Wars, Ghazghkull lives in a moveable hulk-fortress orbiting a forgotten star, drawing Orks from across the galaxy into his growing WAAAGH! force. He does not sleep. He does not delegate. He continues, in clan-saga, to wear the same scarred power klaw and the same adamantium skullplate from his first wound.

Grotsnik is still his surgeon. Grotsnik is, by Orkoid medical theory, possibly older than Ghazghkull himself by now. Neither of them seems to mind.

M42

The Indomitus Crusade has had to deflect several Ghazghkull-led raids in the Era Indomitus. Cawl, in private correspondence with Guilliman, has expressed concern that the Fourth War for Armageddon — when it comes — may not be containable with the current Imperial deployment in the Sanctus.

Ghazghkull does not appear to be in a hurry. Orks, by their nature, are not. The WAAAGH! is patient with itself.
