Signus Prime

Ka'Bandha is the Bloodthirster who, during the Heresy, was set against Sanguinius at Signus Prime. The Blood Angels had been redirected to the Signus cluster as part of Horus's strategy to keep loyalist Astartes away from the Isstvan engagements. The cluster turned out to be a daemon-infested trap. Ka'Bandha led the welcome.

The engagement between Sanguinius and Ka'Bandha is recorded in Blood Angels theology as one of the primarch's most personally formative moments. Ka'Bandha broke Sanguinius's back in single combat. Sanguinius, refusing to fall, stood back up and defeated the Bloodthirster despite the injury. Ka'Bandha was banished. The grudge between him and the Blood Angels has persisted ever since.

The Hate

Ka'Bandha's defining trait is focused hatred. Unlike Skarbrand's untargeted rage, Ka'Bandha's hatred is specifically directed — usually against the Blood Angels and their successor chapters, but in some recorded engagements against entire planetary populations who have offended him by being adjacent to a Blood Angel garrison.

The Blood Angels, when notified that Ka'Bandha has been spotted in a contested zone, divert forces accordingly. They lose senior officers when they engage him. They lose more when they decline.

Method

Ka'Bandha carries an axe and a whip — the axe for melee, the whip for breaking the formations of approaching infantry. The whip's recorded property is that it inspires Khornate rage in any being it touches who survives the touch. Most beings do not survive the touch.

He leads Bloodletter formations in coordinated charges. His daemonic legions are unusually disciplined for Khornate forces; he has, by Khornate theology, kept a portion of the strategic capacity Skarbrand lost on his exile.

Ka'Bandha has been active in the Era Indomitus, appearing during the Devastation of Baal in a brief manifestation that Dante personally banished. He has subsequently appeared in several smaller engagements where Blood Angels Successor chapters were present.

The Imperial War Office classifies his appearance in any zone with a Blood Angels presence as flag-event.
