Valhalla the World
Valhalla was once a paradise world, until a rogue asteroid strike knocked it out of its orbit in M37. The climate collapsed, plunging the planet into a perpetual ice age. The surviving population retreated into deep subterranean caverns, fighting bitterly for scarce resources. They survived, but the cold shaped them into a grim, stoic people who view warmth not as comfort, but as weakness.
The Frozen Wave
In battle, Valhallan commanders treat human life as merely another resource, no different from promethium or las-cells. They favor massive human-wave assaults, sending tide after tide of infantry to overwhelm enemy defenses through sheer attrition. A Valhallan does not complain about casualties; they step over the frozen bodies of their comrades and keep firing.
Doctrine of the Cold
Their uniforms are heavy thermal cloaks and flak armor designed for sub-zero survival. They are known to use the power packs of their lasguns as makeshift heaters when trapped in the snow. To a Valhallan, a temperate world is sweltering, and a jungle world is a lethal nightmare. They operate with terrifying efficiency in blizzards that would freeze a standard guardsman solid.
The snow does not care if you bleed. The ice does not care if you freeze. Die standing, or die begging. Valhalla demands the former.
— Commander Kubrik Chenkov
Notable Campaigns
The Ice Warriors are most famous for their defense of their homeworld during the Ork War. When a massive Waaagh! crashed into Valhalla, the Ice Warriors refused to yield. They ground the Orks down in brutal trench warfare, burying xenos beneath mountains of artillery fire and human bodies. This earned them an eternal hatred for the Greenskins.
Family in Frost
Despite their grim doctrine, Valhallans share a fierce bond. In the claustrophobic ice caverns of their youth, survival depends entirely on the collective. A squad is a family; they share rations, heat, and death. They do not break, they do not rout, and they do not forgive. They simply advance, an unstoppable glacier of Imperial iron.
