Origin & The Orphans of Glory

In the grim darkness of the far future, the Imperium demands blood. When officers, inquisitors, or high-ranking officials die in service to the Emperor, they often leave children behind. The Schola Progenium claims these orphans. Operating as a network of brutal military academies run by the Ecclesiarchy, the Schola strips away their childhoods and remakes them into the most fanatical, highly trained servants of the Throne.

Curriculum

Life in a Schola habitat is a relentless grind of prayer, physical endurance, and martial drilling. Run by scarred, uncompromising Drill Abbots, the institutions enforce a curriculum of unquestioning obedience. Punishments for failure are severe, often lethal. Progena are taught that their parents died for the Emperor, and that their only purpose is to do the same, perfectly and without hesitation.

The Four Paths

As the orphans age, they are filtered by aptitude. The most physically imposing and aggressive males are sent to the Tempestus Scions as elite stormtroopers. Devout females are inducted into the Adepta Sororitas. Those with cold intellect and calculating ruthlessness become Inquisitorial Acolytes or Arbitrators. And those who demonstrate sheer, unyielding willpower are given the peaked cap of the Commissariat.

Your family died in the mud so you could stand here. Do not disrespect their sacrifice by showing mercy.

— Drill Abbot Vermillion

Discipline Without Pity

A Progenium graduate has no home world and no family ties. Their family is the Imperium. This is intentionally designed to sever local loyalties. When a Commissar orders an Astra Militarum regiment to charge into artillery fire, he does not flinch, because he lacks the sentimental attachments of the conscripts he leads. He was raised by the system, to protect the system.

The Empire's Iron Sons

Though they account for a fraction of the Imperium's total forces, Schola graduates punch far above their weight. They are the steel spine of the Emperor's war machine. Without the Tempestus Scions executing impossible drops, or the Commissars holding the crumbling lines of the Guard, the sprawling, chaotic armies of humanity would shatter within a week.
