Mordian the World
Mordian is a tidally locked planet. One hemisphere bakes in the eternal fire of its sun, while the other is trapped in a perpetual, freezing night. The entire population lives on the dark side, crowded into immense, multi-tiered hive cities. In this claustrophobic darkness, anarchy is always a hairsbreadth away. To survive, the society implemented a culture of absolute, draconian order.
The Geometry of Order
To defeat the chaos of the night, the Mordians weaponized discipline. This reflects perfectly in the Iron Guard. They do not scurry in trenches or hide in camo cloaks. A Mordian regiment deploys in flawless, geometric lines. They march in perfect lockstep, their bright dress uniforms of midnight blue and gold gleaming in the smoke. They believe that order itself is a shield against the horrors of the galaxy.
Doctrine of the Parade Ground
Their battle tactics are lifted directly from the parade square. Firing by ranks, the front line unleashes a barrage of las-fire, then steps back to reload while the second rank takes aim. Their bayonet drills are flawless. Even as Tyranid bio-forms or Chaos cultists tear into their lines, a Mordian will not scream, and will not break formation until ordered.
Camouflage is the color of fear. We wear the bright colors of the Emperor, so the enemy knows exactly who brings them death.
— Mordian Commander
Where Discipline Becomes Light
The bright, immaculate uniforms of the Iron Guard serve a psychological purpose. In the eternal night of their homeworld, they are a beacon of Imperial authority. On the battlefield, it is an act of supreme arrogance. They dare the enemy to shoot at them, knowing their interlocking fields of fire and unbreakable morale will shatter any charge long before it reaches their polished boots.
The Iron That Does Not Break
During the Chaos invasion of Mordian, when daemons flooded the streets, the Iron Guard formed squares and fired until the barrels of their rifles melted. They did not retreat. They simply died in formation. To a Mordian, panic is worse than death. A soldier who runs brings chaos to the line, and on Mordian, chaos is the only true enemy.
