Cadia the Gate
Cadia sat at the throat of Hell. Positioned squarely at the Cadian Gate, the only stable path out of the Eye of Terror, the planet was the great bulwark against Chaos. Its purple-eyed inhabitants knew nothing of peace. To be born Cadian was to be born a soldier.
Mysterious black pylons stabilized the space around the world. Beneath these alien structures, generations of Cadians trained, drilled, and bled. They held back twelve Black Crusades. The entire culture was military; birth rates were matched to recruitment quotas, and children learned to strip a lasgun before they could read.
The Whiteshields
Youth on Cadia was short. The 'Whiteshields'—Conscripts—were teenagers thrust into the planetary defense forces to prove their worth. Marked by the white stripe on their helmets, they fought alongside veterans, learning the bitter mathematics of war firsthand.
Only by surviving combat could a Whiteshield earn the right to wear the full Cadian uniform. It bred an army of unparalleled discipline. A Cadian does not break under artillery fire; they check their zero and prepare to return it.
Doctrine of the Lasgun
Where other worlds rely on exotic strategies, Cadia perfected the fundamentals. The Cadian Shock Troops are the gold standard of the Astra Militarum. They master combined arms, deploying infantry, armor, and artillery in flawless symphony.
They believe in the holy Lasgun. A single las-beam might barely singe a Space Marine, but ten thousand fired in disciplined volleys can bring down a Chaos Titan. Their unshakeable formations, snapping volleys, and layered defense made them the most widely replicated regimental template in the galaxy.
Creed and the 8th
The Cadian 8th, 'The Lord Castellan's Own', is perhaps the most famous regiment. Under the command of Lord Castellan Ursarkar E. Creed, a tactical genius of unparalleled stubbornness, they became the ultimate symbol of Imperial defiance.
Creed, with his ubiquitous cigar and twin hellpistols, could predict enemy movements with terrifying accuracy. During the 13th Black Crusade, he orchestrated a defense so resilient that Abaddon the Despoiler realized he could not win the ground war.
Cadia Stands — Cadia Fell
Unable to break the Cadian line, Abaddon launched the remains of a Blackstone Fortress directly into the planet. The surface cracked. The pylons shattered. The world literally broke apart beneath their boots. But the Imperial Guard did not stop firing.
The planet broke before the Guard did. Cadia is gone, reduced to an asteroid field, but the Cadian Shock Troops remain. They are exiles now, a diaspora of war. But wherever they march, they roar their battle cry. Cadia stands.
The planet broke before the Guard did.
